Snippet Sunday and Weekend Writing Warriors

Welcome to Snippet Sunday and Weekend Writing Warriors, your chance to read samples from a talented group of authors. My snippet today comes from my newly completed WIP which is titled Flood. If you see something give a holler.

This excerpt comes after the one you read last week. Last week my  heroine picked one man over the other to go river rafting with, and today the one not chosen comes to her house to see what she and the other guy have been up to. The guy she went with is her employee, an ex-convict, and the rejected man is a pillar of the community. The rejected guy, Jason speaks first.

He jerked his head toward Caleb. “Do you ordinarily entertain half-dressed men, or doesn’t he know that most people wear clothes when they go visiting?”
“Oh, give it a rest, Jason. You know we spent the afternoon on the water.” True, but that wasn’t why Caleb’s shirt was on the floor, not that that was any of Jason Lee’s business. He had no claim on her, and she’d not explain herself to him or let him make her uncomfortable. Chancing a look at Caleb, she quickly averted her eyes. Just looking at the man made her weak kneed.
