Saturday Sample: The Captain and the Cheerleader

Welcome to Saturday Sample. I've been sharing excerpts from my latest release The Captain and the Cheerleader. So far we've found that Susan, my heroine, has bet another teacher, a really irritating person, that she could make the football coach ask her out. So far the excerpts have been in Susan's POV. Today we hear from my hero, Kurt.

Blurb:
Susan English can’t stand Robin Lanford! She’s so full of herself she irritates everyone on the faculty of Fairfield High. When Robin bets Susan fifty dollars that she can’t get a date with Kurt Deveraux, the head football coach, Susan jumps at the chance to put the little heifer in her place. She had no idea that teaching Robin a lesson would irrevocably change her life, strain treasured friendships, and throw two families into chaos.

Excerpt: It's short today because I want to finish up this scene before I go to something else. Kurt is still talking to his friend Jason after admitting that he'd like to go out with Susan. Jason speaks first.

“Is she coming to the game tonight?”

“She didn’t say, and I didn’t ask.”

“Well, you probably wouldn’t have any time for
her anyway,” Jason said as he picked up his cheeseburger.

They finished their meal and went with the team to the locker room. In the rush Kurt forgot about Susan and her compliment. His team deserved his entire attention when they were facing a formidable opponent like Middleton.

Remember, books make great Christmas gifts. This book is available in both print and ebook. http://amzn.to/1iyLjRB

  1. That sounds like a good focus player. I'm sure Susan will show up sometimes after the match maybe.

  2. Boy, it looks like Susan has her work cut out for her. And I found it very easy to dislike Robin--in just one sentence. Nice Work!
