Blurb:
Susan English can’t stand Robin Lanford! She’s so full of herself she irritates everyone on the faculty of Fairfield High. When Robin bets Susan fifty dollars that she can’t get a date with Kurt Deveraux, the head football coach, Susan jumps at the chance to put the little heifer in her place. She had no idea that teaching Robin a lesson would irrevocably change her life, strain treasured friendships, and throw two families into chaos.

Susan just got home from school after making the bet and is talking to her cat about it. I've used some creative punctuation to finish the section.

EXCERPT:

Samson purred and offered his own brand of comfort to Susan; “Yes, I know it’ll work out okay, it’s just that I don’t want to hurt his feelings. He seems like a nice man.”

A new thought suddenly struck her. “Goodness, Samson, maybe he really won’t be interested in me.”

Samson meowed his opinion that Kurt would be interested, so Susan kissed the top of his head to thank him for his support and gave him a can of tuna before she went to get ready for the football game.

If only she hadn’t made that horrible bet! At the moment I don’t feel too good about myself; maybe I should cancel the bet. No, if I do, Robin’ll never let me hear the end of it. Next time she’d refuse to let Robin get her dander up, but this time she intended to show the little witch a thing or two.

Next Sunday we'll move to Kurt's POV. You may find a few surprises there.

Ugh, sounds like she's gotten herself into a real mess! At least her cat can offer comfort and support, as cats do- when they feel like it. :-)

This snippet goes a long way in showing her character. Loving this story!

don't we all talk to our pets when we're really struggling through something - very realistic and great way to show her character!

Kitty knows she can do it. Feel bad that she is starting to have regrets about making the bet. No doubt she will have her fair share of struggles. Look forward to seeing things from Robin's point of view.

Love the scene with the cat! And I can't wait for Kurt's POV next week. I'm glad she's rethinking her actions...another excellent excerpt.

I bet she is not the only person to have meaningful conversations with their cat. Pity the cat cannot come back with words of wisdom. Will be interested to see Kurt's POV.

If her cat is anything like Effing Feline, it will have tons and tons of self-confidence about her ability to snare the coach.

That is why cats are awesome. :) :)

Hindsight is 20/20! But I bet Robin will get on her nerves again, despite her best efforts.

It always helps to have a friend to talk things over with -- especially a four-legged friend.

Love the line about Samson meowing his opinion on Kurt being interested in her! Cats do think they are know-it-alls. LOL. Nicely done.

I can't wait to see what Kurt thinks. I still believe this bet is a very bad idea. Maybe she should just be honest and tell him about it.
