Last week we saw that after the wrestling match started, Cade hit Rocky with a chair, and Rocky didn't get up. We also saw that in the ambulance he asked if it was safe to sit up, and at that point Aimee slapped him. The driver told Aimee there was no call to hit him because it wasn't his fault. Aimee doesn't think Dave (the driver) and Rocky understand the seriousness of their position. (They ticked off drug dealers and have to fake Rocky's death so he can enter the witness protection program.) We pick up where Rocky's manager Rich arrives at the hospital.

Excerpt:

“I’ll see what I can find out,” Rich promised.

Aimee bit her lip as grim amusement bordering on hysteria threatened to make her laugh. Even Rocky’s manager was in the dark. Just as she expected, Rich returned a few minutes later with nothing to report. Another ten minutes crawled by before a marshal dressed in scrubs appeared in the doorway.

“Ms. Sherwood?”

Aimee jumped up, noting that her knees really were quivering. One more part to play before this charade ended. “That’s me.”

“Come with me, please.”

Blurb:
Aimee Sherwood never dreamed that following her fiancĂ© into the witness protection pro-gram would land her in a haunted house in a town that’s downright creepy. She’d have laughed if she had been told the guy who lives down the road might be her soul mate, not the man whose ring she’s wearing. Life in West Virginia is nothing like life in Los Angeles, but between bean ball battles with Marilyn Monroe, remodeling a crumbling farmhouse, and starting a new online business, life in the country is anything but boring.

  1. I assume she's about to get some fake bad news. Then again, you may thrown in something I don't expect.

  2. Nice tease, Elaine. Things are twisting up tighter and tighter. Can't wait to see how she gets out of this.

  6. There's a lot of 'need to know' in witness protection, I would think. There kind of has to be, if you want it to work.

  7. She sure has gotten herself in a mess by following him. Good snippet.

  10. It's sounding pretty dire. I wonder if she is going to regret her choice?
