We know so far that Rocky ticked off drug dealers and had to fake his death so he can enter the witness protection program. At the pretend funeral, Cade McCoy told Aimee he'd never go into the ring again, and Gabe Porter who is suspected of being in the drug ring hugs Aimee and reveals that he knows where she lives. I'm skipping some paragraphs today to the time Aimee goes home to Baltimore, and Rocky calls her right after she was thinking how peaceful she felt.

“Hey, hon, it’s me.”

Rocky! Aimee gritted her teeth and clenched the receiver so tightly her knuckles turned white. “Why are you calling here; the FBI said no contact for at least six months.”

Rocky laughed in her ear. “We’re safe now, hon; stop worrying.”

Aimee took deep breaths to calm herself and resisted the impulse to pound her pillow. “Dave told you not to come or call here, and don’t call me hon. It sounds tacky.

“Oh, Dave’s just a pessimist; I called because I have some news for you.”

Blurb:
Aimee Sherwood never dreamed that following her fiancĂ© into the witness protection pro-gram would land her in a haunted house in a town that’s downright creepy. She’d have laughed if she had been told the guy who lives down the road might be her soul mate, not the man whose ring she’s wearing. Life in West Virginia is nothing like life in Los Angeles, but between bean ball battles with Marilyn Monroe, remodeling a crumbling farmhouse, and starting a new online business, life in the country is anything but boring.

With that kind of attitude he's going to need to fake his death again before it becomes a real death.

I wonder what kind of news he has, but hope he takes the whole witness program a bit more seriously. Nice snippet.

No good news, I'm sure. What a moron. Doesn't he watch TV? Go with the smart guy, girl! Nice tease, Elaine!

Rocky seems maybe not too smart....I have a feeling disaster is about to happen! Great snippet, can't wait to read more.

I think she doesn't trust Dave and she's probably correct.

Excellent cliff hanger, Elaine. What could be so important?

Hang up and change your number, girl. Here comes more trouble! Terrific snippet, Elaine.

Why do I have a feeling this call is a very bad idea?

I hope his disobedience doesn't hang them. Great tease.

He'd better take the whole witness programme a bit more seriously, or it won't be a fake funeral next time. Not only that, but he's increasing the risks for her. Great snippet.

I assume his news has to do with why he feels it's safe to contact her?

He's too stupid to live, isn't he? And it's not just his life he's risking, the jerk.

Oh boy, I take it the news might not be so great?

I would pound on that pillow if I was you, Aimee. I get the feeling hell is about to rain down for his foolish mistake. (And I have to agree with Caitlin on this one.)
