Blurb:

If up and coming realtor Holly Grant can buy Turnaround Farm for her client, her business will boom. Who says you have to have a man in your life to complete you? She’s fine as she is thank you very much. Her first problem is that Jeb Wakefield doesn’t want to sell his farm, and her second problem is Jeb’s grandson Dan, the finest looking man Holly’s ever seen.

Excerpt: Chapter One
Last week

Then he cleaned Dan’s back, applied an antibiotic ointment, and covered the puncture with a sterile bandage. “There you go; good as new. Did you take care of the nail?”

“Yeah, I did.” Dan pulled his flannel shirt back on and washed his hands before sitting down at the kitchen table with his grandfather. “After dinner I’d like you to look at Mr. Ames’ mare for me. She’s still limping, and she’s off her feed.”

“Sure.”

Dinner was a silent affair because Jeb’s thoughts had turned to his grandson.
The Wakefield family had been one of the founding families in the town of Fairfield, prospering over the years through the raising and training of horses. A warm light briefly shone in his eyes.

This Week: We begin where we left off last week.

  1. Powerful snippet. Too often, a family member can stir a mean future. I sense some kindness coming soon.

  3. Awww, very tragic backstory indeed! It's probably the key to quite a few things about the character though...excellent excerpt.

  4. Wow, that definitely adds a tragic wrinkle to what looked like a peaceful, harmonious family life.

  5. This is a harsh judgment on your own son, but it sounds as though it's justified.

  6. That must be so hard for a father to bear. Losing a son who never do things right...

No snippet for me this week.

  7. Wow! What sadness he has to bear. Families can be a source of great happiness or great sorrow. You've written this so well.
