Dark Wolf Enterprises

The big break Trudy Hollander’s small accounting firm needs has finally arrived, but unfortunately it comes with murder, mayhem and Kristof Farkas, a man she just can’t seem to resist. Even worse, Kristof is the CFO of Dark Wolf Enterprises—the one person who can pull the plug on the job that will take her company to the next level.

And then there are the assassins who can jump from three stories up and still be able to run away…

Kristof has no intention of giving in to his inner wolf and claiming Trudy. She’s human. Too fragile to withstand being a shifter’s mate. But the need to protect her is stronger than his resolve, and his desire is more powerful yet. He’ll fight with everything he has to keep her safe, both from those who would hurt her, and from himself.

Enjoy an excerpt:

Trudy groaned. She had kneed her client, and very well the sexiest man she’d ever seen, in the nuts. She pretty much assumed getting fired was a done deal now.

He was the kind of man that women dreamed about. Tall, dark and handsome—literally, he was the epitome of it. He looked to be in his early thirties and too young to run a large company. He stood over six feet tall and had a muscular frame. His dark hair was cut short, not a strand seemed out of place. His eyes were dark brown and unsettled her as he watched her. His clothes looked expensive, from his shirt to his shoes and even the wool coat that he wore. If she was the swooning type, she would be on the ground.

The man standing next to him was just as handsome as Kristof was. He was dark and tall like Kristof but he didn’t have the same muscular build. He had lean muscles like a runner, while even with them hidden underneath his clothes Kristof looked to be all muscle. The two men shared so many similarities Trudy was sure they had to be related.

The officers had everyone wait outside while they did a sweep of her house. She stood in uncomfortable silence with Kristof and Lajos. Now was not a good time to ask them why they traveled all the way to her house. She needed to put some time between her assault on him and begging to keep the contract.

She tried to keep her eyes focused on anything except for Kristof but, no matter how much she tried, she kept peering at him from her peripheral vision. She swore he was doing the same and watching her as well. What she really wanted to do was touch him.

Do it. Touch him.

She took a step in his direction before she caught herself.

What am I doing? I can’t go around fondling my clients.

She didn’t know why, but she had these urges to go to him, stand next to him, caress his body and make love to him.

Shit. Get a grip girl.

It’d been a little while since she got laid, but this was going way beyond horny. It wasn’t even the sex part that pulled at her. It went way beyond that. It was as if she was supposed to trust him…with her life.

She needed to touch him. There was a sense of urgency to it. She maneuvered Piper to one arm and stuck out her hand. “Trudy Hollander.”

Kristof took her hand in his and there was an instant—something. Trudy couldn’t even describe how she felt, because she’d never felt anything like this before. Her hand and his felt connected, as if they were one. He looked down at her and his eyes changed color again. Something behind them flashed with sexual heat and longing.

“Kristof Farkas.”

Inviting Fire
by Emily Kimelman

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Vigilante crime mystery with a dash of romance, early reader’s call INVITING FIRE “Excellent”
Emily Kimelman's best selling Sydney Rye series feature a strong female protagonist and her canine best friend, Blue. It is recommended for the 18+ who enjoy some violence, don't mind dirty language, and are up for a dash of sex. Not to mention an awesome mystery with tons of action that will keep you reading late into the night!
New to Sydney Rye? The first book in the series, UNLEASHED, is FREE.
Recovering from a near fatal attack that has left her with residual trauma, including haunting dreams and flashbacks, Sydney Rye is regaining her strength at the jungle training camp of Joyful Justice, the vigilante network inspired by her now legendary acts of vengeance. However, when a routine reconnaissance mission goes horribly wrong Sydney Rye looses the trust of the leadership of Joyful Justice.
Her good friend and trainer, Merl, warns that if she wants to be in the action she’ll have to follow orders like everyone else. Never good with authority, Sydney struggles to suppress her independent streak for the greater good.
When she runs up against an old adversary he blows apart everything she has gained. With her and Blue’s lives at stake, as well as the future of Joyful Justice, Sydney must push aside her fears and take a leadership role before it's to late.
EXCERPT:
Grabbing onto the edge of the pool he began to haul himself up. I watched his shoulders bunch, forearms tighten, and finally his biceps and the muscles that wrapped around from the backs of his arms came into sharp relief as his chest rose out of the water. It streamed down, following the force of gravity, but seeming to take the most luxurious ride down his form, before returning to the big empty pool.
I backed up giving Lenox space as his leg came up and he hopped into a standing position, drops of water shaking off him. I felt them on my face and bare arms. He didn't reach for a towel, just stood in front of me, the soft drizzle joining with other lingering streams of water slipping down his body. "I'm looking forward to working with you," he said. His gold chain rested against his neck again, short enough that it barely brushed his collarbone, but long enough that when he was on top of me it could fall against his lips.
I cleared my throat. "Me too," I said. Lenox smiled at me and I realized what all his clients were really paying for: the acknowledgement and admiration he showered so generously on you. Beyond companionship and pleasure lies the deep need to be accepted.
"Do you mind if I get you wet?" he asked.
I laughed. "What a rude question."
"Yes, well," he said in that delicious voice of his, as he closed the distance between us. "I can be a very rude boy."
MY REVIEW:
Sydney Rye and Blue are back again and off on an incredible adventure that will change the future of Joyful Justice forever.
Sydney's dealing with a lot of personal demons this time around, especially one important person from her past. And speaking of the past, Sydney spares the life of another adversary bent on destroying her, and that act of compassion may come back to haunt her.
Ms. Kimelman's writing sparkles and shines. I almost felt as if I had gone on the adventure with Sydney and Blue, and I think her characterization which was always good is even better now.
One of the major questions I had about the book concerns romance. More than one man is interested in Sydney, although I'd pick one over the other. I have to wonder if this subject too will play a part in the next book.
She's strong, brave, and determined, and better still, she's finally taking her rightful place in the society in which she lives.
Bravo, Ms. Kimelman. 5 out of 5 stars. Can't wait for the next one.
Danse Macabre
Danse Macabre
by Cristelle Comby
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Private investigators Alexandra Neve and Ashford Egan are hired to succeed where the police have failed, to safely return home a missing ballerina. With no lead to pursue and no idea who could be behind the young woman’s kidnapping, they soon find themselves at a loss as to what to do.

To make matters worse, the heart of England seems to be caught in the middle of a little Ice Age. With snow endlessly falling and Tube lines either too cramped up to use or out of service, it is a pain to do any legwork in the huge metropolis.

Oh, and because trouble never comes alone, there may also be a serial killer on the loose in the streets of East London...

EXCERPT:

I take a better look at the dancer facing us. He looks… fragile more than shy. He has bags under his eyes, his nails show the traces of nervous biting, and his clothes are ill-fitting. Lack of sleep, tension, weight loss. What is going on in Marc Jules’ life? What is he trying to hide from us? ‘That’s not all, is it?’ I lean forward, look at him square on. ‘There’s something you’re not telling us. It’s plain to see.’

The young man shrinks in on himself even more. ‘No… no, nothing. I told you everything I know. I have no idea where Isabella is. I swear.’ A thought strikes me, and I try another angle. ‘She obviously means something to you.’

The man’s eyes shift to the side as he focuses all of his attention on the half-empty lemonade glass sitting on the table. Gotcha!

‘You like her, yet you refuse to help us; it doesn’t make sense,’ I continue. ‘What would Isabella say if she could see you now?’

‘I don’t know anything,’ Marc protests with fervour.

‘Really?’

‘I’d tell you if I knew. I like her, she’s my friend. I want to find her too.’

‘Then stop lying to us,’ Egan says. ‘What are you not telling us?’

‘If what you’re saying is the truth, you would do well to stop keeping things from us. You’re slowing us down, Marc; you’re wasting our time,’

I continue, relentless. I can feel we’re close to breaking him, so very close. ‘Do you know how valuable time is, in a situation like this? Time is everything. Every second we’re wasting on you is taking us further away from Isabella.’

‘You’re letting her down, right now.’ Egan adds. ‘Maybe you’re not her friend after all.’

‘No — she’s my friend. I swear.’ Marc rushes the words out, tears welling up in his eyes.

‘She’s helped me when no one else would. I owe her so much.’

My eyebrows rise up at the words and I cock my head to the side, my expression expectant.
Marc bites down hard on his lip the second he finishes his sentence. He didn’t mean to reveal this much to us, but it’s too late now. The cat’s out of the bag. I soften my tone now that I’ve got what I wanted. ‘What do you mean, Marc? How did she help you?’

‘I don’t… she just…’ He stops himself, crosses his arms over his chest. ‘It’s nothing to do with any of this.’

‘Let us be the judges of that,’ Egan says. ‘If Isabella was involved, it could be relevant.’
‘It’ll stay between us,’ I promise. ‘We’re not the police, Marc. Whatever it is, no one else needs to know.’

The young man lets out a long breath as he uncrosses his arms. Defeated, he lets his hands hang limp in his lap.

Author Interview

What did you hope to accomplish with your books?
All I’ve ever wanted to do is entertain the reader. I hope to give someone an entertaining break from reality for a little while; take them along for a fun adventure. I hope they will care about my characters and love them as I do.

What is the greatest test you ever faced as a writer?
Promotion is difficult to me. I’m a little shy and a very privy person, so it’s not always easy talking about myself and why I write.

What’s the best advice you ever got about the publishing industry?
There’s a phrase I read once, which has stuck with me since: “You’re the only one who can kill your dreams.” I keep repeating it, when people ask me for advice (and dearly wish I could remember where I got it form). It’s so very true. It’s a tough business, rejection letters stink, and some reviews can make you cry. But you have to keep believing in the dream, you have to keep it alive. Keep going on.

If you could meet two authors, which ones would you pick and why?
Jim Butcher, most definitely. He’s my favourite author. I love the dark humour in his books, the vast array of strange creatures he’s created.
Also, I’d love to meet  Michael Crichton. He’s done some really cool and iconic Science Fiction. I’m sure he’s a really interesting guy to talk to.

New Year Blog Hop

Happy New Year! Welcome to the New Year Blog Hop. How do you celebrate the new year? In the South where I live, we eat black eyed peas and collard greens for good luck, but other people have different traditions. Here's a sampling of some traditions in other countries.

In Italy (and in New York) people take the plunge into icy cold water.

In Columbia, 'old year dolls' are burned at the end of New Year's festivities in order to get rid of any bad things from the old year.

In Spain people eat 12 grapes as midnight strikes on New Year's Eve. If you eat one grape and make a    wish each time the clock chimes you'll have good luck in the new year.

In Stonehaven, Scotland, people parade through the streets carrying baskets of fire which they throw into the sea at the end of the celebration procession.

In Japan people decorate with paper lobsters because the rounded back of the lobster resembles the rounded back of an old person, and every New Year's greetomg carries a wish for longevity.

However you celebrate, have a wonderful and happy 2015. You can watch a video about my latest book Rest Thy Head below.

I'm giving away three copies of Rest Thy Head. All you have to do is leave a comment here at the blog. Please, please leave me your email address. You can earn an extra entry if you like my Facebook author page and leave a comment here at the blog telling me you did so. Click here.
