Marilyn Monroe and Wal Mart

Fashionistas, let’s have fun.  I was walking through Wal Mart the other day, and I saw a tee shirt out of the corner of my eye.  Intrigued, I went closer to check it out.  Oh.  My.  Goodness.  So tacky and cute!  What do you think of it?   The words say “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.”  Marilyn’s signature is underneath.  It comes in all sizes, but the link to this one is for the junior shirt.  It's a steal at $7.50

I decided some Capri leggings would be just perfect with the shirt, but I didn’t want black or pink.  I found these White Stag leggings in a sooty gray.  Price?  $9.00 at Wal Mart.

I want ballet flats to go with the outfit.  These are $8 at Wal Mart.
All we need now is a belt.  I found this one  for $14.73

Total cost?  $39.23.  Oops!  Forgot thepurse.  $19.99 at Wal Mart

New total cost?  $59.22.

Actually, this outfit is growing on me.  Think it might replace Donna Karan?

  1. I had to read this. She'll always be a celebrity...until we "older" people lose our memories and newer generations forget about her.
    Nice outfit you put together!

  2. Were any of the articles of clothing made in the USA?

I don't shop at Wallmart because Sam Walton's evil spawn who are on the top 5 richest folks in America lists, don't need any of my money. Their MO of predatory pricing has driven many an independent business under, allowing them to then raise the prices to whatever they want to, since they drove the competition out of town. Then they can pay whatever they want to, because the other jobs are gone too.
No thanks. Sam was a visionary...his kids and his company are predators.

  3. I don't know, Fiona. You are correct about Wal Mart though. My kids at school and I did research on them.

  4. Elaine, thanks for not being upset with my political tirade on your blog! I'm sorry...sometimes my passions run away with my mouth, or my keyboard!
I volunteered once to give a presentation on Wallmart's business practices in my oldest son's class when they were watching a video extolling them as the quintessential American success story. My son was horrified! The teacher instead changed the week to give a more balanced view.
I can't change much in the world, but at least I can vote with my money, what little there is of it!
