Beyond the Book: She's a Baker

Hello.  My name is Marley Matthews.  In the month of December Elaine's characters always take over her blog so she can enjoy herself.  Sometimes she forgets that she's on vacation and butts in, but my husband Rob and I are taking over this month.  We were the hero and heroine in her short novella The Table in the Window.

I'm a baker by trade, so I though today I'd share one of my special cake recipes with you.  I've baked this cake many time because everyone loves it so much.  it tastes great just as it is, but if you were to put some strawberries and whipped cream with it...  I shudder to think of the calories, but it would be worth it.  Here's my recipe.

Pound Cake

1 ½ cups Crisco or butter

3 cups sugar

6 large eggs

3 ¾ cups all purpose flour

¾ cup self rising flour

1 ½ cup milk

2 Tbsp. vanilla

Cream Crisco and sugar 10 minutes.  Add eggs, then flavoring, milk, and flour.  Grease and flour tube pan.  Bake at 325 for 1 ½ hours.

I know you're going to love it.

  1. I bet peaches and cream would be good with it.

  2. Elaine, go away. I told you Rob and I were taking over the blog during December. It's our turn.

  3. Okay, but it's stupid to argue with one of your own characters.

  4. Then you should have created characters who were easier to get along with.
