My excerpt today is from Blue 52 which was declared a Recommended Read at http://www.harliesbooks.com. The review brought tears to my eyes! Now, here's that excerpt:

EXCERPT: In this excerpt, my hero remembers the time he had dinner at the White House with the Russian president. His father was the American president.

His mother had gone out of town and left him in the care of his nanny. He’d woken up screaming for his mother and father, probably had a nightmare, and no matter how hard the nanny tried, she couldn’t calm him. An aide had interrupted the president’s dinner to tell him his son needed him.

His father had left the Russian president at the table and rushed upstairs to comfort him. He had stopped crying until his father tried to leave him; then he had thrown a fit. His dad had carried him downstairs in his pajamas, where he had eaten dinner with them while sitting happily in his father’s arms.

It had caused a big hullabaloo across the entire world. Half the globe thought children should be seen and not heard while the other half trumpeted the resurgence of the family values that made America great.

His father hadn’t understood why everyone made a fuss about it.
