Saturday Sample: Fortuna

Welcome to Saturday Sample. I'm sharing excerpts from my romantic fantasy Fortuna. We're picking up today where we left off last week. Rocky a WWE style wrestler has gone into the ring to wrestle another man name Cade McCoy. Aimee is watching the action from the side of the ring when Cade slips under the ring ropes and grabs a chair and smashes it on Rocky who goes down and doesn't move. They call paramedics who take him out on a stretcher. In the ambulance, Rocky asks if it's safe to sit up and he does. We learned that he wasn't hurt, but was entering the witness protection program by faking his own death. Today they're out of the ambulance and into the hospital. Rocky's manager just arrived on the scene. Don't forget that most of the scenes in the book were based on real life events.

Blurb:
Aimee Sherwood never dreamed that following her fiancĂ© into the witness protection pro-gram would land her in a haunted house in a town that’s downright creepy. She’d have laughed if she had been told the guy who lives down the road might be her soul mate, not the man whose ring she’s wearing. Life in West Virginia is nothing like life in Los Angeles, but between bean ball battles with Marilyn Monroe, remodeling a crumbling farmhouse, and starting a new online business, life in the country is anything but boring.

Excerpt:
“They haven’t told me anything.”

“I’ll see what I can find out,” Rich promised.

Aimee bit her lip as grim amusement bordering on hysteria threatened to make her laugh. Even Rocky’s manager was in the dark. Just as she expected, Rich returned a few minutes later with nothing to report. Another ten minutes crawled by before a marshal dressed in scrubs appeared in the doorway.

“Ms. Sherwood?”

Aimee jumped up, noting that her knees really were quivering. One more part to play before this charade ended. “That’s me.”

“Come with me, please.”
