Last week we saw that after the wrestling match started, Cade hit Rocky with a chair, and Rocky didn't get up. We also saw that in the ambulance he asked if it was safe to sit up, and at that point Aimee slapped him. The driver just told Aimee there was no call to hit him because it wasn't his fault. Aimee doesn't think Dave (the driver) and Rocky understand the seriousness of their position.

Excerpt: The drive speaks first.

Dave glowered into the mirror. “You should be glad Rocky was willing to testify in court. Thanks to him that scum Brady Porter is off the streets.”

For an answer, Aimee pounded Rocky’s pillow, missing his head by inches. “Oh, yeah. I should be glad my fiancĂ© had to fake his own death and enter the witness protection program. I especially should be glad that if I want to marry him, I’ll have to disappear too.”

“Life’s not a beach. Get over it. ”Dave’s unoriginal, snarky answer did nothing to quell her anger. At least you have the option of keeping your identity if you choose.”

Blurb:
Aimee Sherwood never dreamed that following her fiancĂ© into the witness protection pro-gram would land her in a haunted house in a town that’s downright creepy. She’d have laughed if she had been told the guy who lives down the road might be her soul mate, not the man whose ring she’s wearing. Life in West Virginia is nothing like life in Los Angeles, but between bean ball battles with Marilyn Monroe, remodeling a crumbling farmhouse, and starting a new online business, life in the country is anything but boring.

  1. Whew! I'm not sure how I feel about that Dave right now. :-) Loads of character development tucked into this scene. ;-)

  2. She's really upset. Didn't she know about Rocky entering the witness protection program? Or is she just mad at him because she feels she has to go to?

  3. So it's down to the wire regarding marriage or run like the devil and get away! What a dire situation.Terrific snippet!

  4. Very tense snippet. Dave's giving it to her straight. Her decision. Hope she makes the right one.

  5. Aimee sure is mad at her fiancee. With good reason too. And Dave's not helping her temper too.

  6. Wow, tough spot and dilemma. Great snip.

  7. Why would they let her keep her identity? Seems like it leaves an easily followed trail, if anyone ever suspects...but see there how involved I've gotten in the plot and the characters LOL? Great snippet...

  8. Excellent dialogue, Elaine.

So all is not a bed of roses. Nice set up for some interesting conflict.

  10. "Get over it" is definitely not the right thing to say right now. Entering witness protection is quite a bit more than one of life's little hiccups!

  11. I think all the men in the ambulance should probably just shut up before she really gets mad.

  12. Huh. I would think she'd need to change her identity, too, just in case someone gets curious about this new guy in her life. I'd be miffed too, but life *isn't* fair, after all.

  13. Keeping your identity maybe, but she can kiss everything else she wanted in her future goodbye pretty much. I have a feeling this is going to get ugly...
