Blurb:

Jenna West has no idea what she might have done to her new tenant Mike Hightower. He's surly and hateful every single time they meet, and he looks at her as though he despises her.

He does despise her. She's from the Middle East, and people like her killed his friend Ramirez when the army sent them to Iraq.

Will the power of love work its magic to soften Mike's bitter hatred, or will he ignore his growing attraction for his pretty landlady?

Last Week:

This weekIn this excerpt Mike tours Jenna's rental apartment. I did some creative punctuation.

  1. Enjoyed the description of the apartment and I can see why he wants to live there. It's very interesting to follow his quite conflicted train of thought.

  2. I might be a liberal, but I hope his attitude changes for the better! ;)

  3. Sounds like he realizes she grew up there, and he’s still hostile. It can be hard to overcome a visceral prejudice like that!

  4. I spent weeks looking for an apartment for my friend who was moving to town. From my experience, Mike- take the apartment before someone else does! Hope he overcomes his prejudice he may miss out on a great opportunity (and I am not just talking about the apartment) ;) Great snippet!

  5. He didn't notice her before his prejudice set in, now he's noticing and thinking some terrible things.

  6. He isn't acting very heroic. She was here before the war. His prejudice can't see that she isn't responsible. He needs a slap upside the head.
