Michel Prince: Chrysalis

Welcome to Michel Prince's book tour.  Michel, is there anything about you that would surprise your readers?  I was a cheerleader, is that surprising?  That seems to surprise people who know me but I don’t know I’m pretty open with my readers.

What's the hardest part of writing for you?  the easiest?  Editing is the hardest part of writing hands down.  There’s a reason that English is one of the hardest languages in the world to learn.  Learning to write correctly as opposed to how we talk is hard and even among editors there is such a variation on what is or isn’t right.  The easiest is writing the story for me.  Getting the book out, especially when my muse’s mouth runnith over can at times take a few weeks.

How much of yourself is in your books?  In the Chrysalis series I’d say a lot of me is in the books.  My other books will have a hint of me, but Chrysalis and the books that follow have a tremendous part of me in between the pages.

Describe a typical writing day.  I have yet to have one.  I wish that I had a routine with an expected output, but I don’t.  Instead as it comes to me I get it out.  When I’m working with my editors then I have a routine and make sure I get X number of pages done in a day.

What's the number one thing you want your fans to know?  I’m around to answer questions…I’m not as scary as I seem J

What do you think makes a book a page turner?  The realness of the people involved.  Even though it’s a paranormal series I stress having the characters feel like someone you’d meet any day just like my favorite authors do.  I mean who wants to invest in reading four hundred pages of a jerk and a boring person?

How many WIP do you have going at the same time?  That’s a funny question.  I recently decided to use a corkboard to diagram out my books and the ones in process because I have them all in my head or in my computer files.  When I looked at the board after I finished I couldn’t believe that I had twenty-five books…seven of them have been contracted or published.  So currently I have about eighteen WIPs.  One in the final stages of editing and others between the idea process to over two-thirds done.  What can I say there are a lot of characters running around in my head.

Where do you get your inspiration?  The better question is where don’t I get inspiration.  It can be a picture, a comment someone makes in passing to a friend, a movie might spin me this way or that, song, something at a sale, a breeze while I’m on a walk…yep now you see why I have so many WIPs

Which genre appeals the most to you?  The least?  I really like mysteries as well as paranormal romance.  Even when I’m interested in the person I’m really not one to read a biography.

BLURB:

In the annals of dysfunctional families, the Chisholm’s are working their way to the top. Drug abuse, an unwed mother with multiple fathers, and the questionable cash flow for the 'pretty one'.   All this from a seemingly normal, two parent middle class family. But were the choices truly made of their free will?

Bad choices are a Chisholm family trait, one that confounds the youngest child, Ellie, who's trying to separate herself by making smart decisions. And falling for Oscar Jeffreys, the hottest guy at school, would be number one on the list of  Chisholm family disasters.  Yet the crazy part is it’s not a one sided attraction.  Somehow Ellie has caught Oscar Jeffreys’ eye.   Sure she could see the barriers between them.  Race, age, popularity.  They were at opposite ends of the spectrum.  But a demon set to destroy her family? She can't see that.

Oscar provides security and acceptance Ellie never imagined she deserved.  As the passion of first love grows, Ellie honestly believes she has a chance to beat the odds and live a happy, normal life. Then her world collapses around her. With the help of a guardian angel, Ellie learns of a world that has unknowingly surrounded her for years.  And she'll have to find strength buried deep inside to save not only her future, but flush out and stop the demon in her midst.

And Ellie will have to learn that sometimes the hardest lesson about growing up is accepting that you're worth more.
