Secret Santa Blog Hop

Welcome readers!  I hope your Christmas so far as been outstanding.  The rules for the blog hop are found at http://tabithablake.blogspot.com//  Don't forget to go there because even though you can win a prize here, the grand prize is a Kindle Fire.

I have a few holiday eating tips to share.  They've been floating around the Internet for a long time, so I have no idea where they came from, but in case you've never read them, here goes.

1.Avoid carrot sticks.  Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit.  In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately.  Go next door, where they’re serving rum balls

2.Drink as much eggnog as you can and quickly.  You can’t find it any other time of year but now.  So drink up!  Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip?  It’s not as if you’re going to turn into an eggnog-aholic or something.  It’s a treat.  Enjoy!!!  Have one for me.  Have two.  It’s later than you think.  It’s Christmas!

3.If something comes with gravy, use it.  That’s the whole point of gravy.  Gravy does not stand alone.  Pour it on.  Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes.  Fill it with gravy.  Eat the volcano.  Repeat.

4.Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating.  The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people’s food for free.  Lots of it.  Hello???

5. Did someone mention fruitcake?  Granted, it’s loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost.  I mean, have some standards.

Remember this motto to live by:

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body.  But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, “WOO-HOO what a ride!”

To win a copy of my Christmas novella The Table in the Window, leave a comment telling me what your favorite Christmas food is. Commenting will get you one entry for the Kindle Fire.

If you follow my blog you get an extra entry to win the Kindle Fire.  If you just leave a comment and don't say what you favorite food is you still get one extra entry to win the Kindle Fire.

Remember, go to http://tabithablake.blogspot.com// for the rules of the blog hop.

You can get a copy of The Table in the Window at most all online retail outlets and at

  5. My favorite holiday food has always been my mom's fudge. She only made it once a year for the holidays, and we all treasured it. Of course, it was best with her eggnog, once I got old enough--there's six kinds of alcohol in mom's eggnog...

  26. Mmmm, my sister makes this green bean caserole thingy. One of our siblings is allergic to mushrooms, so the dish is made with cream of asparagus and cream or celery, with the fried onions form Trader Joe's. I could just eat that whole thing.

Have a great holiday season...still laughing at the running from the carrot sticks :-)
