Forty years ago Lexi Barstow and Collins Wentworth thought they had made the biggest mistakes of their lives. Heartbreaking choices and bitter tears cemented a pact that would shape who they were and what they would be. But now so much has changed...except the passion they share and the differences between them. But some things are fixable, and with forever staring them hard in the face, they learn all their decisions brought them to this place...an ever after filled with love.

Read an excerpt:

The club was even more crowded than it had been earlier and the audience was lively for a Sunday evening, clapping and stomping and answering Lonnie’s quips with boos and catcalls. There was electricity in the air. They were a fun crowd tonight.

Lexi’s eyes danced as they sang their first song. She was in her element.

They were about halfway through their second set when the front door opened and a familiar figure stepped into the club. The hostess’s eyes widened and the bartender did a double take. It wasn’t all that often a United States Senator darkened their doors.

Lexi’s curiosity burned as the flustered hostess showed Collins to the last vacant table by the front window. There was a bit of a stir as a good percentage of the audience recognized the man who had joined them, and then realized Lexi was performing for her old lover.

Whatever was he doing here tonight? This wasn’t his kind of club. It wasn’t even his kind of music anymore. She’d overheard him tell Danny he loved listening to him and his mother on their dulcimers, but that given the choice he was fonder of the classical music Chessie and Isabel played.

Had he come to hear Lexi sing? Had he come to repeat his invitation to join him on an evening out?

The thought sent chills up her spine.

She tore her eyes away from him. No way could she concentrate on her singing if all her attention was on Collins. Ever the professional, she didn’t miss a beat in the song they were singing, or the next, or the one after that. If anything, her voice became sultrier and her smile wider. Collins had come to hear her sing. She wanted him to know that she still had it, and she wanted to rub in what he’d missed all these years.

Gumshoe Girl

Sheagan O’Hare got more than she bargained for when her newly inherited detective agency lands its first case; a missing person, embezzlement, and murder. Sheagan’s out to prove she can hang with the pro's, despite the constant reminder of her amateur status from an annoyingly attractive FBI agent, Colin 'Mac' MacEvine, who’s forced himself into her life.

How does she feel when an old high school friend hopes to ignite a new romance?

Will she be able to discover if detective work and love can mingle before someone gets hurt?

Read an excerpt:

“Does this have to do with this detective stuff you decided to play around with?”

She shot a dirty look at the wall. “Listen, don’t worry about it. I’ve got it under control.”

“Obviously you don’t. I’m going to the police.”

“Um, no. You can’t call, uh, not yet.”

“Why can’t I?” He came back into the room.

“I can’t explain that.”

“You’d better explain something, because I am calling 9-1-1 right now.” He picked up the phone.

“Stop!” she yelled.

He looked at her like she was crazy. “Why?”

“Listen, just let me call my friend first.”

“Your friend?” It was his turn for sarcasm.

“Yes, my friend.” She snatched the phone from him, grabbed her bag, and went into the bathroom. She fished around until she found the card from Mac and punched in his number on her cell.

“Yup,” Mac answered.

“I have a sticky situation.”

“What is it?”

“Well, I’m at my old place.”

“I’m not here to settle disputes for you and your boyfriend.”

“Boyfriend? What are you talking about, we broke up?” Then it dawned on her. Her address showed she was still living with Rat Bastard.

“Sheagan,” she heard him shout, breaking into her thoughts.

“What!” she shouted back.

He grunted. “What is the situation?”

“The O’Dwyer boys came to visit my ex-boyfriend last night.”

“I’ll be right there. Don’t call the police.”

“I know. I called you.”

“Well, you got something right.” He hung up.

She screamed into the receiver, “You son-of-a-, I’ll give you, ‘you got something right’. You can kiss my butt.”

When she emerged from the bathroom, Rat Bastard cocked his head. “Friend, huh?”

“It’s complicated!” she snapped.

Beyond the Book: Purple Heart

Welcome to Beyond the Book. Today we'll continue with out excerpts from Purple Heart, my Wild Rose Press release.

Blurb:

Jenna West has no idea what she might have done to her new tenant Mike Hightower. He's surly and hateful every single time they meet, and he looks at her as though he despises her.

He does despise her. She's from the Middle East, and people like her killed his friend Ramirez when the army sent them to Iraq.

Will the power of love work its magic to soften Mike's bitter hatred, or will he ignore his growing attraction for his pretty landlady?

Last Week:

He had no idea why he did it, but he went inside anyway and immediately liked what he saw. The living room had plenty of space with a nice, big window along the south wall. The walls were painted a light cream color that should match most furniture, and a neutral colored vinyl covered the floor.

He passed through the living room to the kitchen that contained a small stove and refrigerator, and from the kitchen, he entered the bedroom. The bathroom and a huge closet occupied the far end of the bedroom.

He liked the duplex, and it suited him perfectly. What a shame that somebody like her had to own it. What was the world coming to?

This week: Mike can't forget Jenna's apartment.

“Did you have any luck finding a place to live?” Pam Hightower cheerfully inquired when Mike came in. “Dinner’s almost ready so go wash up.”

Mike gave his mother a kiss and rinsed his hands off. “I couldn’t find anything. The best I could do was an apartment at The Botany Arms, and I didn’t especially like it.”

“The Botany Arms is getting old. Maybe you can find a garage apartment or something.”

Mike doubted it. He had looked at apartments for three days now, and nothing really suited him. Nothing except Jenna West’s place.

You Never Forget Your First Earl

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Ella will be awarding a signed copy of the book (International Giveaway) to 5 randomly drawn winners via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

With her three good friends all recently married, Elizabeth Turley is ready for some husband-hunting of her own. One gentleman in particular sparks her interest. Geoffrey, Earl of Harrington is tall, handsome, and dashing. He’s also just a bit too sure of himself. But Elizabeth has observed enough about the rules of attraction to pique the earl’s attention. Yet once she has it, the discovery of a troubling secret taints her future happiness . . .

Lord Harrington must marry or lose a prestigious position in Brussels, and pretty, well-connected Elizabeth fits his needs admirably. But could it be that he has underestimated his bride? She doesn’t bat an eye in the face of the danger they encounter overseas. She’s strong-willed, intelligent, and more enticing each day—yet also more indifferent to him. Now Geoffrey faces his greatest challenge: to woo and win his own wife, or risk losing her for good . . .

Read an Excerpt:

“It would not be only you pretending you might be interested in me,” Lord Littleton explained. “I would be seen to be interested in you as well.”

This still seemed unnecessary. Either Lord Harrington would want her for herself or not. She did not like to engage in deceptions. “To what purpose?”

“My dear lady.” Lord Littleton possessed himself of her hands, his gaze capturing hers.

Good Lord, the man was dangerous. She sent a prayer of thanks to the deity that she was not affected by him. “Do you do that on purpose?”

He shook his head and stared at her. “Do what?”

Elizabeth narrowed her eyes at him. “Look into a woman’s eyes as if she were the only lady on earth you wished to be with.”

“Ah, no,” he said a little sheepishly. “It just happens. I can’t seem to stop myself.”

“It’s like this, Lizzy”—her brother cut in—“any gentleman who’s interested in a lady don’t wish to see another man making up to her.” He gave his friend a disgusted look. “Littleton agreed to help, but you can see how dangerous it is for him to be in Town. He truly can’t help himself from flirting, and he’ll soon find himself in a bumble-bath if he remains too long. He’s not ready for a leg-shackle yet, but he’d be bound to raise some lady’s expectations and that won’t do.”

“That’s it exactly.” Lord Littleton must have realized he was still holding Elizabeth’s hands and released them. “But that’s not the only reason Turley and I thought I’d be the best one. You see, Harrington and I never got on well together. That will give him the extra incentive to court you properly.”

“And,” Gavin added, “Littleton is so full of juice that he is just as eligible as Harrington. Other than the title that is.”

Her brother and Lord Littleton focused their gazes on her, and she glanced from one man to the other. “I understand.” Or she thought she did. Men were such strange creatures. She wondered why Lord Harrington did not like Lord Littleton. He seemed amiable enough. “Very well, then. How do we begin?”

His Sweetest Sin

Title: His Sweetest Sin
Author: Fiona Murphy
Genre: BBW Contemporary Romance
Release Date: May 29, 2018

I can’t believe it. Christopher Baldwin, the baddest boy in baseball wants me. Amelia Bishop, I was maybe a solid seven before an accident changed my life, leaving me fat, broken, and avoiding mirrors around me. If he hadn’t said it with a stare hot enough to melt brain cells, I would never have believed him when he said my curves are what he wants.
Cocky, arrogant, tattooed, with a diamond glinting in his ear, he is no boy. He is all man and a lethally gorgeous one at that. With dimples flashing as he invites me to sin in a slow Southern drawl I’m trying to remember I don’t swoon, sin, or—wait, what? I forgot not to stare directly at his dimples, those bright blue eyes aren’t safe either. Sorry, as I was saying.
As appealing as the idea of being bad with Chris is, there is no doubt in my mind I would fail miserably at it, even under his expert tutelage. Chris is used to strippers, women who have all the right moves. Me, I have no moves, at all. Chris is major league, I would get laughed out of little league.
I’m also his lawyer, at least until my brother, Ethan, comes back from vacation. Getting involved with clients is a huge no-no, no matter what primetime television might show. As gorgeous as he is he isn’t worth the possibility of hurting my career or losing the hard-earned respect of my boss and brother.
Only I can’t deny he makes being bad sound so good. Once Ethan is back I’m no longer Chris’s lawyer and it’s open season on all my good intentions. Being with him is still dangerous, his fame attracts all sorts of trouble. Who knows what complications could tear us apart?
***While a standalone, Holly and Ethan from His Under Contract make an appearance. You need not have read His Under Contract to enjoy His Sweetest Sin. ***
***Warning***
I don’t like to watch sports, although I do enjoy watching beautiful men sweat. I’ve never read a sports romance before. Chris Baldwin is a man falling in love with a sassy, damaged, curvy woman and he also happens to play baseball. When I started writing, I did do my research. I watched the winning series that inspired the story. I watched a bunch of movies and spent hours on Wikipedia. Then I scrapped the paragraphs waxing lyrical about the love the game and stuck with what I know. My billionaires don’t lay out the inner workings of their deals. I figured less is more. So, please be aware the focus is not the love of the game, it’s on the love story.

Due to commitment issues I have lived in many different cities and my favorite is Chicago but I have managed to settle into Austin and perhaps my commitment issues are behind me.
I have enjoyed reading from a very young age and it wasn't long before the children books bored me and I read the books my mother enjoyed Stephen King and Dean Koontz and I didn't sleep without the light on until I was about ten.
I came across my first Harlequin by accident and it was love at first read, no one died and happy endings? It was a whole new world and I loved it.
I wrote my first story at eight and everyone died, of course. Since then I would like to think I've gotten better and now I'm writing the happily ever afters I first fell in love with, with some hot sex thrown in along the way.
