Saturday Sample: Fortuna

Welcome to Saturday Sample. I'm sharing excerpts from my romantic fantasy Fortuna. We're picking up today where we left off last week. Rocky a WWE style wrestler has gone into the ring to wrestle another man name Cade McCoy. Aimee is watching the action from the side of the ring when Cade slips under the ring ropes and grabs a chair and smashes it on Rocky who goes down and doesn't move. They call paramedics who take him out on a stretcher. In the ambulance, Rocky asks if it's safe to sit up and he does. Today they're still in the ambulance. Don't forget that most of the scenes in the book were based on real life events.

Aimee Sherwood never dreamed that following her fiancĂ© into the witness protection pro-gram would land her in a haunted house in a town that’s downright creepy. She’d have laughed if she had been told the guy who lives down the road might be her soul mate, not the man whose ring she’s wearing. Life in West Virginia is nothing like life in Los Angeles, but between bean ball battles with Marilyn Monroe, remodeling a crumbling farmhouse, and starting a new online business, life in the country is anything but boring.

EXCERPT: Dave is the FBI agent driving the fake ambulance.

Dave’s loud voice overrode hers. “I see the hospital. Look panicked, ma’am, if you can.”

Wonder what would happen if she slugged good ole Dave? No, she couldn’t do that. He was a federal agent after all. She sat on her hands to avoid temptation. Did no one understand her predicament? If she wanted to marry Rocky, she had to give up her life and go into hiding with him. Not that her job with Rocky was anything to brag on, but giving up her family was another matter altogether. How could anyone be expected to do that?
