Weekend Writing Warriors: Released From Prison

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors.  My excerpt today begins on the day the prince is released from prison. His father has arrived to pick him up.  After you finished here, go to http://www.wewriwa.com for more sentences from participating authors.

Blurb:

Forced by his father into a marriage he didn’t want, Prince Alan soon finds that his bride isn’t the sweet, submissive creature he expected.  Morgane has the heart of a dragon and beauty beyond compare, but she isn’t thrilled about the marriage either.  When black treachery threatens the kingdom, Morgane and Alan embark on a perilous journey that has an excellent chance of ending in failure and death for them and all of their people.

Excerpt:
Keeper Kynthelig's long, dangling necklaces clinked softly
and tangled together as he bowed low to his visitor. "King Bowdyn,
it is an honor to receive you. I had no idea that you would come to
collect Prince Alan in person, or I would have made arrangements
for a feast in your honor."

The king's nose flared slightly. The stench of the prison
penetrated even these fine apartments. "That is quite all right,
Kynthelig. I must collect Alan and leave right away, else we will be
late for the wedding festivities."

"Yes, news of Alanʹs marriage has spread throughout the

kingdom."

The Enchanted is available at most all online retail outlets.

Great excerpt, Elaine! I loved the dialogue and the strong bits of description throughout, like the necklace. Well done! :)

Agree with the comments about the details you added. Little stuff like that is really a big deal, because it helps transform the words into a movie in my head.

But now I want to know what happened to Alan during his imprisonment! :-D

Yup, this is on my TBR list. I have to find out what happened to the poor prince while he was in prison. Excellent excerpt!

I'm so glad he's getting out. Well, getting out of one and possibly into another. Love the little details you give her. It brings the snippet to life.

How interesting--to leave prison and go straight to a wedding. Great details here. Can really see it.

Very good imagery---and you've made the King's opinion plain with a simply nonverbal gesture.

Excellent snippet!

I love the details in this, and the juxtaposed experience of going right from prison into his own wedding.

The king is in for a huge surprise. You've woven an interesting tale. Good eight.

It almost sounds like he's going from one prison into another form of captivity... I look forward to reading more, especially about a journey that seems impossible to succeed!

Was he in prison to prevent him from skipping out on the marriage? And where does this snippet fit with last week's? So many questions! Keep writing and I'll keep reading!
