In last week's excerpt we learned that Aimee works in Rocky's wrestling show and doesn't like her dress because it's so cheap looking. The match has begun, but Rocky is getting the worst of it.

Excerpt:
Before he could get to his feet, Cade slipped under the bottom rope and shoved one of the timekeepers from his chair. He grabbed the chair and took it into the ring with him. As the crowd roared and screamed, he smashed Rocky from behind with the chair.

Don’t panic, don’t panic, don’t panic.

Cade paraded around the ring, jeering at the audience and gloating over Rocky’s fall. Rocky should have gotten to his feet by now, but he hadn’t moved a muscle. Cade strutted across the ring and kicked his leg hard. Rocky didn’t move.

Aimee didn’t realize she had gotten to her feet and was moving until she bumped into the ring. “Rocky, get up,” she screamed, her voice reverberating around the now strangely silent arena.

Blurb:
Aimee Sherwood never dreamed that following her fiancĂ© into the witness protection pro-gram would land her in a haunted house in a town that’s downright creepy. She’d have laughed if she had been told the guy who lives down the road might be her soul mate, not the man whose ring she’s wearing. Life in West Virginia is nothing like life in Los Angeles, but between bean ball battles with Marilyn Monroe, remodeling a crumbling farmhouse, and starting a new online business, life in the country is anything but boring.

Wow! What a scene and that slime who hit Rocky so unfairly. I felt like jumping in to smash his creepy face. Good scene, Elaine.

It sounds Rocky got hit by a REAL chair, not a WRESTLING chair, if you get the difference between the two.

Sounds like he's gone too far and not faking it.

Eeek, that went wrong quickly! And what is Cade's problem?

Karen Michelle Nutt said...

I definitely could feel her concern. I hope he's okay.

And this is why these sorts of things can be so dangerous. Basically, if someone doesn't get up, or at least wake up, within a few seconds, there's damage. Not good at all!

Uh oh. Rocky's in big trouble. You left us waiting with bated breath. Will he get up? Wont he?

Oooooh shiiiiit. Well, that's not a good sign! Let's pray he's just unconscious and not seriously injured.
