Saturday Sample and Weekend Writing Warriors: Tarnished Silver

I thought I'd share one final excerpt from my WIP Tarnished Silver. In this excerpt, Brittany has just gone on a date with Brad as a way of getting closer to him in hopes of finding out if he really did steal money from his church or not. However, things are not exactly working out as she had planned.

Brittany laid her hairbrush down and removed her fuzzy pink robe.  Pink was one of her favorite colors, but she wore red more often because it suited her hair and skin tones better.  She slid into bed and turned off her lamp, but she didn’t bother to shut her eyes.  The memory of Brad Silver’s kisses had chased away all thoughts of sleep.

Talk about playing with fire!  Brad might yet turn out to be a thief, but at the moment she couldn’t find it in her heart to care.  His arms had felt good around her, and his kiss had sent little tingles up and down her spine.

Mr. Silver had given her a job to do, but she no longer trusted herself to do it.  She liked Brad too much to see him objectively.  Her gut feeling said that he hadn’t taken any money, but her feelings for him might have affected her judgment.

She’d have to find out one way or the other and soon because unless she missed her guess Brad had fallen hard for her.  However, if he had taken that money they probably didn’t have a future together. In that case she wanted to distance herself from him before both of them got hurt.  She didn’t think she’d enjoy a broken heart.

Sounds like she has some big decisions to make, and soon.

The stuff that keeps you up at night! Hope she makes the right decision and that Brad is innocent.

They might not have a future anyways, if he finds out she was hired to investigate him. I hope for her sake he's innocent!
