She threw the dress to the floor and stepped on the hem to hold it down
while she tried to rip the bodice from the skirt. The expensive, well-sewn gown
gave way so abruptly Kara staggered and fell to the floor among the debris.
What had she done? Sanity returned with a rush, and sickening shame
soon followed. Hands shaking, she bundled the destroyed dress into the plastic cover
and dropped to the floor to search for pearls and buttons.
Her breath came in
gasps.
That's so sad! Now that she's ripped it up she wants it back the way it was. Poor Kara! I just want to hug her and feed her chocolate until she feels better.
ReplyDeletePoor woman, she's really a mess right now. Anguish, rage, and then horrified sanity. You really make your reader feel for her. So expertly done!
ReplyDeleteVery intense. You did a great job with her reaction.
ReplyDeletePoor thing! You captured this moment so well, with your description-- I could really see her falling back on her butt and then her despair when reality returned! She's a hot mess right now...
ReplyDeleteLove the way you've captured such a difficult moment! But, I can't help but feel like this is just what she needed... regardless of what she's thinking as she hunts for pearls.
ReplyDeleteElaine, I love the premise for this book! Great job on getting her emotions across.
ReplyDeletePoor Kara. Haven't we all had stupid moments we regretted? Great scene, Elaine.
ReplyDeleteLadies, thank you so much for coming by. Poor Kara has no idea how much her world is about to change.
