Fortuna is the home that Rocky bought for him and Aimee to live in. As you can see from the cover, it was somewhat of a mess. This is what Fortuna looked like after renovation.
Impressive? Yes, I think so, but Aimee is attracted to another house. This house is called Bad Creek, and Aimee herself named it. What do you think of it?
Aimee loves it much more than she does Fortuna. I wonder if it's the house she loves, or if it could be the house's owner Cade McCoy? As we see from this excerpt, there's something brewing between those two.
They strolled down the creek bank, dodging the occasional
briars and clumps of poison ivy and paused when they came to a
wild blackberry patch. Aimee reached for a berry at the edge of the
tangle. “Look how fat they are.”
Cade picked one and popped it into his mouth. “It’s sweet. Try one.”
At the end of ten minutes their lips and fingers were stained with blue. Aimee reached for a final berry and polished it off. “I bet I look like a child with a dirty face.”
Cade shook his head. “No, you don’t.”
Oh. My. Goodness! What was up with his voice? It was so husky and mesmerizing she couldn’t look away from him. A slow smile that reached his eyes brought a sharp intake of breath from her. Her eyes fluttered as she leaned toward him.
“Aimee! Cade!”
“Why can’t they leave us alone for just one minute?” Aimee scolded.
She gasped. What had she said? She chanced a quick peek at Cade who looked as frustrated as she felt. “I . . . I have to wash my hands,” she stammered as she turned and ran for the creek.
