We know so far that Rocky ticked off drug dealers and had to fake his death so he can enter the witness protection program. Last week Rocky called Aimee even though he wasn't supposed to and told her he'd bought a house for them. I'm skipping forward a few paragraphs to the time when Aimee is almost at Rocky's new house. She has car trouble, and is worried about how she'll get to Rocky's home. She's nervous about being stranded on a deserted road too. A man who knows her name comes riding down the road on a horse and speaks to her.
Excerpt:
“Why, Aimee Sherwood. What are you doing here?”
Aimee’s jaw dropped. “Cade McCoy, where did you come from?”
Aimee’s jaw dropped. “Cade McCoy, where did you come from?”
Cade laughed as he dismounted. “Remember that horse
farm I was going to buy? It’s only a few miles down the road.”
Aimee stepped back as the horse’s nostrils flared. Ooo, they were pink inside. “He won’t bite, will he?”
So now we know that Cade McCoy is back in Aimee's life. Remember Cade helped Rocky and Aimee fake Rocky's death. Next week we'll see how this meeting goes.

Well, lol, horses really do occasionally bite. At least that has been my personal experience. :-) Great snippet, Elaine. I just bought a Kindle copy. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love it when a hero rides up to save the day . . . literally!! Glad to see him back in the nick of time.
ReplyDeleteCould Rocky have competition here?

ReplyDeleteGlad it was him, and not a malevolent stranger who stopped. But is her life about to become even more complicated? Great snippet.
I used to have a horse that was bad about biting -- it didn't like to be ridden. Except by one of our cats; I have a picture of the cat sitting calmly on the horse's back, washing its face.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing she is going to learn more about horses.
ReplyDeleteMore than horses coming up with an old friend. Good snippet, Elaine.
ReplyDeleteOoooh this is getting good! Waiting for next week!
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued to know more about the man riding up on a horse. Bet your heroine is a bit curious too.
ReplyDeleteYou can tell she's not a horse person. Reminds me of one time I did trail riding, and one person asked where the "brakes" were.
ReplyDeleteI like their surprise. :D
ReplyDeleteI look forward to more!
ReplyDeleteThe hero to the rescue? Not so sure she should trust him. At least be wary. Good excerpt.
ReplyDeleteHm, this is odd. I wonder what he's up to?
ReplyDeleteI wonder about the reason why he's back.
