Saturday Sample

Today's sample is taken from Rest Thy Head. In this excerpt, my heroine declares her love for my hero.

She moved closer to him and laid her head on his shoulder. “Touching you feels like coming home to a house filled with love after you’ve had a hard day. It makes me feel safe, like the Mrs. Haynes of the world can’t hurt me because you won’t let them.” She gently stroked his face. “I don’t see scars either. I see a man with more sex appeal than the law should allow.” Her arms sneaked around his waist. “I want you so much in so many ways.”

Darn it all, he couldn't leave her like this. Leaving his place in line, he jogged to catch up with her. "Kara wait." She stopped and leaned on the cart handle, the light he'd seen in her that day in the library completely done. Brandon needed his butt kicked for what he'd done to her.

He took a deep breath. "I...I was wondering if you aren't doing anything on Saturday night if you'd have dinner with me."

Ross braced himself when Kara hesitated. He half expected her to laugh in his face and tell him to get lost. Well, he'd never again humiliate himself for Kara Cochrane. Enough was enough.

But it didn't end the way Ross thought it would.

It did feel strange to kiss someone who wasn't Brandon. Ross didn't hold her the same way. Somehow she felt that he was totally in charge of this kiss, and that wasn't always the case with Brandon. She clenched Ross's shoulders. His kiss was charged with a smouldering sexual energy that had been sadly lacking of late in Brandon's kisses. Her fingers played along his back. Brandon had never felt so masculine and hard.

Kara forgot about her meeting with Brandon's parents just as she forgot about coming to the lake with Brandon. She'd have to be made of stone not to pay attention to this kiss.

Welcome to Snippet Sunday. My excerpt today is from Her Kind of Man. In this excerpt, my heroine Kara and her sister Katie are talking about a man they went to school with. He always had a crush on Kara, but from the sound of it, Kara never thought he was anything special. Surprisingly, Ross turns out to be exactly her kind of man.

EXCERPT:

“I bet he didn’t go because you were going with someone else. Ross always reminded me of a devoted, old spaniel. He adored the ground you walked on, and I think he still does.”

Kara chuckled when she remembered Ross’s lovesick behavior. “That’s a pretty good description. Every time I spoke to him I expected him to duck his head and blush. One word from me and he was too tongue-tied to put two syllables together.”
