GENRE: Time Travel Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Jeff Blue -
the victim of a time-travel conspiracy - wakes up trapped in the year 2095. The
only familiar face is J0, a robotic copy of the wife he left behind in 1981.
But can she be trusted? J0 could be the only key to unlock Jeff's journey home,
but it will require her to do something against her programming , something
human.
During Jeff's perilous journey
through the future, he will have to discover the truth about J0's origins, and
solve the mystery behind how he wound up in 2095, in order to uncover the
reality of his own destiny.
Armed with a one-way ticket to the
moon, Jeff must race against the clock to seize what might be his last chance
to return home to his time. A time without hover cars, Justice Computers, or
TeleSkins - a time over 100 years ago.
EXCERPT:
I
followed the Realtor up the wooden staircase to the second floor, even though
she could never know the house as well as I did. When we reached the top, we
passed by Susan’s old room, and I purposely looked away. I wasn’t ready to
sneak a peek at how it looked.
Bev
led me to the master bedroom. Another TeleSkin covered the wall where my
dresser and writing desk used to be. Julie’s closet had been completely
removed. The room opened up much wider.
“Where’s
the closet?” I asked.
“I
don’t know. I’m not sure if there ever was one.”
I
had the urge to tell her that there definitely had been a closet in here. It
had been filled with a woman’s shoe collection that could put some stores to
shame. It must have been remodeled out of the house long before Tandy Realty’s
records indicated.
The
room looked spotless, clean, and tidy. Other than the bed, a rocking chair, a
treadmill, and a large dresser, it appeared rather empty. I could still see
where our furniture used to be, once upon a time.
I
thought, what if Julie was standing in this very room back in 1981 at this
exact moment? She would have no idea that I was in the same room as her, just
in a different time. Unfortunately, I then thought it could be possible that
Junior and Julie were in this very room right now too, back in 1981.
Unbeknownst to my wife that it wasn’t really me, she might even be letting him
have his way with her. My thoughts could really get the best of me at times.
That
daydream slowly reverted me back to reality but made me so homesick that I
almost cried out, right then and there. I made a silent pledge to Julie while I
stood in the middle of our remodeled bedroom. If I ever made it back, I would
do everything in my power to make our marriage work. I vowed that we would grow
old at 242 West Winter Street.
