We know that Susan won her bet with Robin when Kurt asked her to go to a party with him. Susan has called and told her best friend that she has the date. We're picking up now after the phone call. Here's a little more info about Susan. She's talking to her cat.
“I hope we have fun tonight, kitty. Things have
been a little stale since Tommy and I broke up.”
Samson stared holes through Susan, but the mean look on his face didn’t surprise her. “You liked Tommy, didn’t you, boy? He always had a treat for you, but that’s no excuse for looking daggers at me.
“I feel bad about Tommy too. He’s a great guy, but I don’t love him the way he loved me. I broke up with him because it wasn’t fair to let him hope for something that can never be. Still, I miss him too.”
She needed to move on with her life, and going out with Kurt Deveraux seemed like a good way to begin.
Blurb:
Susan English can’t stand Robin Lanford! She’s so full of herself she irritates everyone on the faculty of Fairfield High. When Robin bets Susan fifty dollars that she can’t get a date with Kurt Deveraux, the head football coach, Susan jumps at the chance to put the little heifer in her place. She had no idea that teaching Robin a lesson would irrevocably change her life, strain treasured friendships, and throw two families into chaos.

If it just wasn't for that danged bet... :-) Good book!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa.
ReplyDeleteShe's on a rebound - always the most dangerous emotional state. Anything can happen - including making a very unwise bet...
ReplyDeleteI don't know...I've always found it good to rely on our cats' judgment of people... ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm with Todd. Cat's know!
ReplyDeleteI like that she broke up with him to spare his feelings instead of using him. Makes me like her even more!

A date with him could either make it better or complicate things further. I can't wait to see what happens!
ReplyDeleteI talk to my cat all the time. He usually tells me how the house is and I tell him what I'm thinking. :D Good snippet, Elaine.
ReplyDeleteAwww. Fur friends are the best.
ReplyDeleteConfiding in your cat is perfectly normal. And best of all, they will keep everything in confidence, unlike some loose-lipped friends. :-)
ReplyDeletePets are the best friends of all, and they know how to keep their mouths shut!
ReplyDeleteWrong moment for them perhaps? Great snippet. It's been my experience that sometimes you have to go a long way to come back to the right guy before the HEA. :)
ReplyDeleteI love how she's carrying on a full conversation with her pet.
ReplyDeleteA shame about Tommy, but that's life!
ReplyDeleteI love the whole spill your guts out to your animal idea. I do it everyday to mine. I wonder if they wish I'd not talk so much to them. lol.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping Kurt bring cat treats with him.
ReplyDeleteAt least on her side there is no more boyfriend in the picture.
