BLURB:
Eclipsed
by darkness, the Romelands must face the ultimate quest. If they are forced
toward the umbra peak, they will be completely obscured.
Symone struggles with her most challenging battles … the conflict within herself. Losing loved ones steals part of her soul. Despair has created a gaping hole where her heart should be. Symone doesn’t even recognize herself. She has to determine if this is the person she’s turned into, or if it is who she has always been.
Nile is an attractive aristocrat whose charm and arrogance drives Symone insane. Beyond Symone’s control, Nile is spun into her life. But she’s not sure if she can have a relationship with him or where that could lead her. Embracing love could make her whole again, but it may also destroy her. Symone must travel through the opaque light in order to find where her destiny lies.
Symone’s family, Shiray and Syira, continue to fight in the feuds of their galaxy. Together they have to find the balance between compassion and sacrifice. Kadanans are being held captive, and they hold the fate of their world in their hands. They have only begun to understand the consequences of the devastating realities of war.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend, is the philosophy the Romelands now abide by. With chaos and turmoil at every corner, they may forget what is worth fighting for. The surge for power has erupted. Only the strongest race will be left standing.

Chapter 17
* * * Symone * * *
Twenty-two days later, we hovered down into
Polaris’ atmosphere. Syira’s friend of great vision had told her our time to
conquer was today. We were in no position to question Fate. I needed to believe
in something. I chose to believe in my kind.
Various gray and white clouds cascaded around the
ship as we flew through them. The dominant color of the terrain was white, with
specs of red and brown. Green was few and far between. Snow covered the surface
of Polaris year round, so it didn’t allow for much plant life. The weather was
calm; it wasn’t even snowing. If only it could stay this way.
Hopefully, our space crafts wouldn’t be detected.
We still had the codes to scramble their radar, but we couldn’t be certain they
were still effective. We aimed to deliver our target’s bomb; the palace and the
three main militia weapons facilities. The bombs would be launched into the
ground directly above the sites. Our objective was to destroy the weapons
buildings. And the palace where Zeus dwelled, bringing the battle to the
surface. Even with harsh temperatures and the possibility of blizzards, we were
not like our enemy. We wanted the least amount of collateral damage. If we fought
below the surface where their homes lay, a lot of Polar civilians and children
would be killed. Our teams were suited in thermal heated uniforms engineered by
our specialists. We all prayed the black combat boots and thermal gloves would
keep our body temperatures steady.
“How far are we from the target?” Nile asked,
standing next to Marie.
Nile was the director of the entire Space Flight
Program, and the commanding officer in charge of any flight mission. Our target
was the Lira weapons base.
“Approximately three minutes, Sire,” Marie
reported. Nile nodded. Marie was the captain of this ship. She had not been
piloting long but had a natural gift. Nile recruited her a few months back,
when she had been the first Kadanan to ever beat him in a space race. Because
of her exceptional talent, she’d climbed the ranks fast. Marie’s co-pilot was
Sax. Nile was there to assist Marie, if need be. I doubted she would need any.
Kumar was Bryan’s second in command, but he was
granted permission to be a part of this team for the attack. I got it. Kumar
wanted to be close to Marie, since this was her first mission.
You would never guess that this was her first
operation. She was so cool and collected.
Juda, Nile’s second, was with Zephra on Syira’s
team for this raid. Zephra was going to assist with mind enhancement, and Juda
was by her side. This raid had an underlying aura of doom. No one said
anything. But I sensed we all felt the uneasiness and wanted to be close to our
loved ones during the mission.
“I need confirmation that all targets are ready to
drop the payload,” Nile commanded. “Sound off when you’re ready,” Nile told
Marie.
“Sonar Jericho 1.5 will reach destination in two
minutes,” Marie said over the radio com.
All of Nile’s ships in his fleet bore his middle
name with an identifying number. The other units came in over the com, ready to
detonate. Thanks to Kadeem and Kat, we had the grids and landscape of the
Polaris geography. The Lira base being underground, all you could see was miles
of snow. But our bomb should be strong enough to destroy the facility. The
initial countdown began. Marie deployed the payload over our mark. A deafening
boom hammered through the wind.
