Saturday Sample and Weekend Writing Warriors

Welcome to Saturday Sample and Weekend Writing Warriors. Today we'll continue to share excerpts from Never Trust a Pretty Wolf. On Sunday when you finish here, do go to http://www.wewriwa.blogspot.com for more excerpts from a bunch of great authors.

Blurb:
Liesel Wolf has a secret, a dangerous secret she’ll go to any lengths to conceal. When she’s paired in a charity game with sexy marshal Andy Bryce, a man with secrets of his own, her carefully constructed world comes crashing down, and Liesel’s on a collision course with her past.

Excerpt:
Chapter One

Last Week

Andy drew a deep breath, “Do you know those men?”
“For goodness’ sake, not now!”
“Give me the GPS.”
Liesel passed it to him. He studied it for a moment and
pointed down the hill. “Follow me, and be very quiet. No more loud, panic-stricken runs.”

Liesel willingly followed him. Anything to get out of there.

They moved through the woods as silently as possible, flinching when a careless foot snapped a branch. After one such incident, Liesel’s nerves got the better of her; she propped her foot on a rock and jerked a small handgun from a holster that she wore under her pant leg.

This week: I've picked up where we left off last week.

  1. I wonder how she's going to explain these men to him.

  2. Is it significant that there's no one at the bridge? I guess we'll find out, eh?

  3. Uh oh... Her camo is wearing off. Bet he has a choice coming up. :-)

  5. Uh oh, Toto. I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.

  6. Now, he's taking charge. But what is her secret?

  7. I'm surprised she gave up the gun so easily but it's all very interesting to be sure. Enjoyed the snippet! Can't wait to see what you spring on them (and us) next (which I say in a complimentary way).

  8. That sounded like a famous last line.

  9. Sounds like she's not as tough as she wants everyone to think if Andy got the gun away from her so easily. And I really don't like the sound of that seemingly deserted family-centered area. Nice snippet!

  10. I wonder if those 45 minutes gave her time to come up with a plausible explanation. I doubt he's going to forget to ask.
