Blurb:
First Lady Kills President Lovinggood"
December 5, 2018
Thirty years later, Hank Lovinggood embarks on a quest to prove his mother's innocence and punish the killers who took his family from him. Together Hank and lovely physicist Dr. Kathryn Sinclair confront an implacable, twisted, and merciless enemy who'll do whatever it takes to hide the truth forever.
Last Week's Excerpt:
Hank slowed down and left the freeway when he saw the exit for Knollwood. Moments later the cemetery, with the entrance blocked by a wooden barricade, came into view. A young man in a military uniform stepped forward. “Good morning, sir. Do you have business in Knollwood?”
“My name is Hank Lovinggood, and this is my grandfather, Senator Henry Lovinggood.” Hank fished in his pocket and handed his driver’s license to the soldier, who briefly studied it.
“Thank you, sir.” The soldier nodded to several other men, and they opened the barricade.
“That’s more security than I thought we’d get,” Senator Lovinggood remarked.
“I’m not surprised. They can’t let anything happen to Dad. What kind of scandal would that cause?”
They parked the Jaguar in front of the cemetery office and got out. Armed military guards surrounded the entire property. Another group stood watch over a big backhoe parked beside the graves.
“I guess we go to the grave,” Hank said, his lips a thin line in his face.
Today's Excerpt: Hank and the Senator arrive at the Sinclair Mortuary to view the remains of Hank's mother and father.
So many complex emotions during this unusual situation! Nice job showing them through Hank's POV.
ReplyDeleteSeems like Hank still has many emotions around his father's death, and the aftereffects on his family.
ReplyDeleteNice tease! Establishes characters and encourages questions. Well done!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the snippet - lots of emotion going on!
ReplyDeleteEach snippet raises questions. Good job.
ReplyDeleteI can't think anything would be more painful than disinterring your parents, unless it's a child. Hopefully Hank will pull it together. Maybe his grandfather will have to support him! Great snippet! Tweeted.
ReplyDeleteA very gripping storyline. Hank is right, now is not the time to indulge in self-pity. They need to get the job done.
ReplyDeleteHe has so much to deal with.
