Susan English can’t stand Robin Lanford! She’s so full of herself she irritates everyone on the faculty of Fairfield High. When Robin bets Susan fifty dollars that she can’t get a date with Kurt Deveraux, the head football coach, Susan jumps at the chance to put the little heifer in her place. She had no idea that teaching Robin a lesson would irrevocably change her life, strain treasured friendships, and throw two families into chaos.
Except:
When she left them alone, it finally occurred to Susan that she expected them to share a bed. “I can’t stand uh, stay here, Kurt. There’s only one bed.”
“They think we’re lovers, remember? We’ll just share the bed. It’ll be fine.”
His reasoning seemed slightly off kilter, but darn it, she couldn’t figure out exactly why. “Okay, but I have to go to the bathroom first.”
When she got back, Kurt made a trip to the bathroom. By the time he returned Susan had thrown her clothes across a chair and got in bed with the covers pulled up to her chin.

Awe, I think it is cute that she is so modest. :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting to find out what happens next ;-)
ReplyDeleteOy! Alcohol... :-) Their impaired judgement does make for a good story, though. :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah, what's the big deal? Sharing a bed with a good-looking man after you've both had too much to drink. Nah, nothing could go wrong. ;-)

Here comes something! Fun ahead for the two of them.
ReplyDelete"It'll be fine." Famous last words. Can't wait to see what trouble they get into next.
ReplyDeleteYup. This will get awkward... and interesting... very soon. Great writing!
ReplyDeleteThese two are seriously in a mess...they ought not to drink any more, or at least be more moderate! The complications are piling up all right...skillfully done, my compliments.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it's too late to point out to her that she could have slept with her clothes on...

ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same as PT. Stripping off, plus alcohol, can lead to all sorts of shenanigans!
They could just share the bed and nothing else... but with their minds a little compromised, who knows what will happen!
ReplyDeleteEven drunk, she can say no if she doesn't want it. But I think she kinda does. Good snippet, Elaine. :)
ReplyDeleteIf she thinks sharing a bed with a guy can end innocently, she clearly hasn't read enough romances. They'll either get it on, or year so much to get it on that they fates are inextricably intertwined.
ReplyDeleteThis is getting weird. Did she go naked in bed knowing that they were going to share?
ReplyDeleteOff kilter? Hmm... Now that sounds curious. I can't help but wonder why she took her clothes off if she was first uncomfortable with sharing a bed with him. If I was her, I would have slept in them. Or is that the alcohol kicking in more now?
