Saturday Sample and Weekend Writing Warriors

Welcome to Saturday Sample and Weekend Writing Warriors. Today we'll continue to share excerpts from Never Trust a Pretty Wolf. On Sunday when you finish here, do go to http://www.wewriwa.blogspot.com for more excerpts from a bunch of great authors.

Blurb:
Liesel Wolf has a secret, a dangerous secret she’ll go to any lengths to conceal. When she’s paired in a charity game with sexy marshal Andy Bryce, a man with secrets of his own, her carefully constructed world comes crashing down, and Liesel’s on a collision course with her past.

Excerpt:
Chapter One

Last Week

They looked for another ten minutes before admitting defeat. “Find something to dig with,” Liesel ordered. “A strong stick, maybe. I don’t know why I didn’t think to bring a shovel.”

Both of them found sticks and started to dig. The red clay parted reluctantly. It seemed to take forever to clear even a small hole. The midday sun burned their faces. Sweat ran off of them in rivers as gnats and mosquitoes feasted on their exposed limbs.

This week: I've picked up where we left off last week. Just a note here. I've been told that you can't bury things when you geo-cache. I researched how the game was done, but somehow I missed that fact.

  1. At least they know they are the first to find this one--with no sign of other activity. :-)

  2. It's a good sign that they are the first to find it. Hopefully they can get out of there and stay ahead before anyone catches up.

  3. Yay, I'm glad they're in the right place, and not to mention the first ones there!

  4. You may not be able to bury things, but some of the caches my daughter has found have been all but buried. And they are very lucky to be the first. Now they have a leg up on everyone else.

  5. I was thinking the same thing Andy articulated in the last line. A recent dig is quite easy to find.

  6. I'm glad they were the first to arrive! Well, you can make up your own rules in your own novel. Or have a character point out the usual rule is not to bury the item...in any case, enjoyed the snippet.
