Six Sentence Sunday: She Belongs to His Friend

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday.  Today is the last official SSS, but I'll probably continue to post an excerpt anyway, so feel free to stop by anytime.  In this excerpt from my yet unpublished romantic comedy Fortuna, my hero agonizes over his attraction to his best friend's fiancee.

Cade flipped over in bed and jerked up the covers he had kicked off a few minutes ago. He was tired out and should be sleeping like a log, but he couldn’t fall asleep no matter how many sheep he counted. His lips burned and his chest constricted when he remembered how she felt in his arms.
He turned over yet again. Aimee Sherwood belonged to Rocky. His best friend.

Six Sentence Sunday: Bull in the Barnyard

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday.  My excerpt today comes from Her Kind of Man.  In this excerpt, my hero and heroine have just got married.  My heroine is having some doubt about her behavior with her new husband.  The book is available at http://www.lachesispublishing.com/proddetail.asp?prod=HerKindofMan and most other retail outlets.

Her breath came faster now. Maybe Ross thought she was a slut. She didn’t like that word, never had, but it sure did describe her behavior.  It made her cringe to think of the things she had begged him to do. He’d whispered words of endearment to her and treated her so gently and tenderly. Didn’t it bother him that his wife had moaned and bucked against him like he was a bull in the barnyard?

Six Sentence Sunday: Wish This Would Happen to Me

Today's six comes from The Table in the Window, one of my Christmas romances.  In this excerpt, my hero and heroine are about to go caroling.

Marley snuggled close to Rob. “You can see the stars so much better outside the city. It looks like they’re so close you could reach up and touch them.”

“I’ll get one for you if you like,” Rob offered. He put his arm around her and nuzzled his face against her hair.

Marley pretended to consider it.

Six Sentence Sunday: Fire!

Welcome to my blog.  In today's six my hero has arrived at my heroine's house to find it on fire, and he can't find her anywhere.

Blurb:
Lesel Wolf has a secret, a dangerous secret she’ll go to any lengths to conceal. When she’s paired in a charity game with sexy marshal Andy Bryce, a man with secrets of his own, her carefully constructed world comes crashing down, and Liesel’s on a collision course with her past.

Sentences:
A solid wall of intense, voracious flames blocked the front door, but an outside staircase leading to a second-floor balcony was still passable.

He ripped off his shirt and tied it around his mouth and nose, then dashed up the steps to the balcony. Smoke billowed and swirled against all of the windows. He stared inside but the smoke prevented him from seeing anything. With no warning the window burst outward, spraying his chest with glass and barely missing his face. Hot sparks pelted his bare skin, raising water blisters, while small shards of glass worked their way into his skin.

Six Sentence Sunday: Silken Whispers

Today's six come from an unpublished manuscript titled The Captain and the Cheerleader.  In this excerpt my hero and heroine who are teachers make the  mistake of kissing at school and get caught by one of their students.

***

Susan waited to leave her room until she had composed herself.  She really wished Benjy hadn’t interrupted her and Kurt.  She had enjoyed that kiss!  The feel of his lips on hers and the strength of his arms around her had sent a bolt of desire shooting through Susan that had left her shaken.  She remembered some of what had happened when they spent the night with Mendoza, but her misery over the estrangement with Kurt had caused her to forget the strong physical attraction between them.

Now, his kiss and the banked passion she sensed inside him made Susan wonder just what it would be like to greet him at the door of their home wearing something soft and silky, something that would slide right off with a silken whisper and leave nothing between his hands and her skin except the faintest trace of perfume.

Six Sentence Sunday and a Virtual Book Tour

Today's excerpt comes from my WIP which is tentatively titled Fortuna.  In this excerpt my heroine is spending the night alone in the old house she and her fiance are remodeling.

The footsteps paused right outside her door. Frozen with fear, Aimee couldn’t move. She lay there and watched as the door slowly swung open. OMG! OMG! In her wildest dreams she wouldn’t have expected the dreadful apparition that confronted her.

I'm starting my Goddess Fish virtual book tour for Never Trust a Pretty Wolf tomorrow.  I've posted the tour info below.  I'd apppreciate it if you'd follow the tour whenever you can.

Six Sentence Sunday

Welcome.  Today I'm sharing a bit of my current WIP. In this excerpt my heroine is taking a horseback ride.  Critique if you like.

The horse was taller than she thought. As she floundered and scrambled against the animal’s side, Cade gave her arm a jerk and set her in place behind him. The minute the horse felt her weight it farted, a long, drawn-out expulsion of air that seemed to go on forever.
Cade laughed as if it was the most hysterical thing he’d ever heard. He turned around to say something, took a look at her face, and shut up.  Since she’d had to put her arms around him, she still felt him shaking with laughter.

Six Sentence: Continuation

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday. As some of you know, several weeks ago I started sharing excerpts from a turning point in my book Her Kind of Man. In summary, this is what's happened. My heroine just returned from her sister's wedding. Since her sister stole her fiance, Kara isn't feeling extremely happy. In fact, she's so angry and upset that she destroys her wedding dress. Here's the next six sentences in the excerpt. If you've been following along, stay with me. We're getting there.

Blurb:
Is it possible she’s finally found Her Kind of Man?

Ross Williams has been in love with Kara Cochrane since they were kids so when Kara's fiancé Brandon Miles cheats on her and calls off their wedding—Ross steps in to rescue the damsel in distress.

A heartbroken Kara just wants to get on with her life and hunky Ross provides her with a definite distraction—that is until she starts falling for him. Big time.

But a devastating family secret threatens to destroy everything that Kara holds dear—including her relationship with Ross.

Six Sentences:
Think! What could she do with it? She’d die before she’d let anyone see this.
The attic. Good idea. She’d hide the dress in the attic.

Here's a blurb, and then the sentences.

blurb:

A heartbroken Kara just wants to get on with her life and hunky Ross provides her with a definite distraction—that is until she starts falling for him. Big time.

But a devastating family secret threatens to destroy everything that Kara holds dear—including her relationship with Ross.

This excerpt takes place on Kara's first date after her fiance dumped her for her sister.

Ross didn't hold her the same way.  Somehow, she felt that he was totally in charge of this kiss, and that wasn't always the case with Brandon.  She clenched Ross's shoulders.  His kiss was charged with a smoldering sexual energy that had been sadly lacking of late in Brandon's kisses.  Her fingers played across his back. Brandon had never felt so masculine and hard.

If you like what you've read, I'd appreciate it if you'd like and tag the book on Amazon.  The link is http://www.amazon.com/Her-Kind-of-Man-ebook/dp/B007TCJ36E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334455852&sr=8-1  Thanks!

Six Sentence Sunday

Welcome!  Today's excerpt comes from my brand spanking new book Her Kind of Man.  The book is so new it hasn't even been uploaded to Amazon and other outlets yet.  But if you'd like to read it, you can buy it at http://www.lachesispublishing.com/proddetail.asp?prod=HerKindofMan

First a quick blurb, then the excerpt.

Excerpt:  In this excerpt Kara my heroine has gone to the movies with her sister Katie.  As they leave the theater, they see their other sister Kelly kissing Kara's fiance.

Kelly's eyes glittered like two burning blue coals. “We planned to tell her tomorrow night. We wanted her to have the weekend off to…to…to get used to things.”
Brandon looked Kara directly in the face for the first time. “I’m sorry, Kara. You have to know I never meant to hurt you, but I can’t marry you if I’m in love with your sister.”

Six Sentence Sunday

Welcome to my blog for SSS.  Today's excerpt comes from The Sentence which was released on March 22.  Here's a blurb followed by my six.  Oh, and the cute guy in the picture is Clint.  Reverend Amos is making him help build the new church.

blurb:
How could he do it! How could her father bring the guy who burned the church into their home for six months? Yeah, it was an accident and her dad’s a minister, but if he wanted to help this man why didn’t he go to the prison to do it? And no matter what anyone says she doesn't watch him every moment they're in the same room.

Excerpt: In this excerpt my heroine has just met my hero.

Well, she had to admit he was cute. He wasn’t especially tall, maybe six feet at the most, but he was so well proportioned he looked taller. He had sandy blond hair and intense blue eyes. His face looked sensitive yet…what was the word…vulnerable. That wasn’t exactly it either, but at the moment she couldn’t think of anything any better. The look in his eyes made her think he was waiting for life to kick him in the teeth and wanted to be ready for the blow.

Six Sentence Sunday

Today's excerpt comes from A New Dream.  In this excerpt my hero and heroine are alone in his office.

Matt silenced her with a kiss. A funny feeling, the harbinger of real desire, rippled up and down Violet’s spine when she felt his lips on hers. Even the taste of him seemed erotic.  Matt raised his head and looked into her eyes, which made Violet’s heart leap and skitter all over the place. “I need you so much, Violet. Make love to me.

Six Sentence Sunday

Hi.  Welcome to my blog.  Today's six come from my soon to be released novel The Sentence.  In this excerpt my heroine tries once more to deny her attraction to my hero.

Attracted?  Rachel Amos attracted to a…a… drunken….nobody?  Rachel had to remind herself to breathe.    It probably wasn’t a real attraction.  She didn’t know anyone like him so she was curious about him.  That’s all it was.

Six Sentence Sunday

Today's sample comes from The Table in the Window, available at Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

Blurb:
Being dumped by your gorgeous fiancé is bad enough no matter when it happens, but he did it at Christmas time! Marley thinks she’ll never get over it, but Rob Travers disagrees. He sets out to win Marley’s heart, well aware that when she finds out about his past, she may turn her back on him forever.

Michael’s face had gone dark. “Who do you think you’re talking to? I’m willing to give you another chance, so don’t be a fool. I can give you everything, but what can he give you? He’s a waiter! You can’t be in love with him."

Six Sentence Sunday

Thanks for stopping by!  Today's excerpt comes from A New Dream.  In this excerpt my heroine pays a surprise visit to her fiance. Read it with caution, though.  Things aren't always what they seem.  A New Dream is available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble or Astraea Press.

Matt didn’t answer, but the sound of running water had stopped, so Violet pushed open the door. In the dim light she couldn’t identify the black object near the door, but she could plainly see the other items. A trail of lacey, pink undergarments led the eye toward the bed. Violet identified Stacey at once even though she saw only one slender, bare shoulder and a head full of tousled, blonde hair. The blood drained from her face as she started to tremble. She would have given anything she possessed to be away from this awful place, but she couldn’t move.

Six Sentence Sunday

In this excerpt my hero's old girlfriend decides it's time to move back home.  A New Dream is available at either Amazon or Barnes and Noble

She heard the child cry out and hurried to comfort him. As she patted his back, he burped and drifted back to sleep.  “How would you like to meet Matt?” she whispered.

Yes, that was a good idea. New York hadn’t worked out exactly like she had hoped; she had been torn about what to do.  Seeing Matt’s picture had clarified her half‑formed resolve.

Six Sentence Sunday

Welcome!  Thanks for stopping by.  Today's sentences are from The Table in the Window.  In this excerpt, my hero and heroine are stranded during a snow storm after their car slides into a ditch.  They decide to walk for help.

“Walking will warm us up,” Marley argued, “and I really don’t want to stay here all night.
It’s too much like a horror movie to suit me.”

“Are you afraid I am ze vampire in disguise?” He showed her his teeth. “Or perhaps you fear ze werewolf?” This time he howled at her.

Have a wonderful Christmas.

Six Sentence Sunday: The Table in the Window

Today's excerpt is from The Table in the Window which is available at http://www.amazon.com/Table-Window-ebook/dp/B006GYAQ26/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322968258&sr=8-1 or at http://www.astraeapress.com/#ecwid:category=662245&mode=product&product=7885677

If you'd like to read the opening scene in the book check out yesterday's post.  In this excerpt, my hero is escorting my heroine home from a party.

The spicy scent of his body enveloped her when his arms closed around her.

Marley forgot about Michael. She forgot that she didn’t know Rob very well. She grabbed his shoulders and pressed herself against him as his warm, persuasive lips teased hers. How did he
learn to kiss like this? Her knees would buckle if he let go of her.

Six Sentence Sunday

Hello!  Thanks for dropping by.  I appreciate your feedback very much.  Today's excerpt comes from my Christmas story The Table in the Window.  Astraea Press is publishing it, and they say it'll be out on Black Friday if all goes well.  The cover is only a proof.  In this excerpt, my hero who works at a restaurant finally gets the chance to talk to the girl he's admired for a year.

“Uh, is there anything else?” she asked.
He smiled at her.  “My shift’s over.  If I’m not bothering you, I wondered if you’d like some company for lunch.”  His eyes twinkled.  “In case you’re wondering, you’re the first customer I’ve made that offer to.”

Six Sentence Sunday

This scene is from my upcoming release The Sentence.  The scene is between my hero and heroine.
“Look above your head,” he said.

Rachel looked up and saw a sprig of mistletoe tied to a ceiling fan with a long piece of red yarn.

“That’s mistletoe, Rachel.”

“So?  I imagine the high school kids tied it there so they could steal kisses.”

When Clint took another step toward her, Rachel’s heart started to pound.
