Last week we learned that Kurt's date Aleisha got strep throat, and couldn't go with him to a party. Then, he starts to think about asking Susan to go with him instead.
Uh oh. What if he and Susan didn’t get along? It
might be awkward to work with her if they didn’t
hit it off.
Okay, he’d wash his car and forget about it. His life suited him just find. Who needed complications? He’d ask Susan about the play the next time he saw her at school.
Susan had been waiting since nine, but when she answered the phone she tried to sound surprised to hear from him.
Blurb:
Susan English can’t stand Robin Lanford! She’s so full of herself she irritates everyone on the faculty of Fairfield High. When Robin bets Susan fifty dollars that she can’t get a date with Kurt Deveraux, the head football coach, Susan jumps at the chance to put the little heifer in her place. She had no idea that teaching Robin a lesson would irrevocably change her life, strain treasured friendships, and throw two families into chaos.

Kurt’s call came around lunchtime on Saturday.
Susan had been waiting since nine, but when she answered the phone she tried to sound surprised to hear from him.

How did she know? what did i miss. can't wait to read the conversation they're going to have.
ReplyDeleteThat guy is so undecided, isn't he? He knows they will get along just find. I don't know what the car wash did to him but it seems to have been very powerful to make him pick up the phone.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Iris. How did she know?
ReplyDeleteYou've got me wondering two things. First, what changed his mind? And second, why was she waiting for his call?
ReplyDeleteAh, dating drama...I don't miss that, either. :-)
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify, she was waiting for his call because she knew a football coach would be consumed with curiosity over the football play she sketched for him.
ReplyDeleteClever lady stood her ground and waited. I love his (failed) argument. Nicely done, Elaine

ReplyDeleteDon't you love it when you go and do something you told yourself you weren't going to do? LOL!!!! Nice snippet.
ReplyDeleteI'm rather surprised that's his concern given they're both adults. But I'm definitely curious as to how she knew he'd call. Good snippet, Elaine.
ReplyDeleteShe waited him out and he called. YIPPEE! Let the games begin and I'm not talking about football.
ReplyDeleteWhy was she waiting? Good snippet! Can't wait for more!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's hard to wait a man out. It's like Dances with Wolves, but with phones. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think his concerns are justified, but that doesn't mean I don't think he should ignore them! ;-) Great snippet as always.

Wonder if she had something to do with Aleisha's illness and knew she'd be called?
ReplyDeleteBut what if it DOESN'T come across as awkward and complicated? Just take the plunge, dude, and go for it. I would take Aleisha's sickness as a sign.
