We're picking up where we left off last week. Now Kurt gets an unexpected phone call.
He was in the kitchen making some coffee when
the phone rang. A quick glance at the caller ID told
him it was Aleisha Childs. “Hi, Aleisha, did you
see the game last night?”
“No, I missed it. I’ve got strep throat so I guess the party’s out too. I’m sorry for the late notice.”
Kurt winced. “Oh, that hurts. Don’t worry about the party. We’ll go to the next one.”

Blurb:
Susan English can’t stand Robin Lanford! She’s so full of herself she irritates everyone on the faculty of Fairfield High. When Robin bets Susan fifty dollars that she can’t get a date with Kurt Deveraux, the head football coach, Susan jumps at the chance to put the little heifer in her place. She had no idea that teaching Robin a lesson would irrevocably change her life, strain treasured friendships, and throw two families into chaos.

Guys like their women to be healthy so there goes this one down the drain and she doesn't know it. Good twist, Elaine.
ReplyDeleteNothing kills a party like strep throat. Poor girl. :(
ReplyDeleteWell, sounds like he has an opening or two in his social calendar for another lady!
ReplyDeleteUh oh! The competition is heating up! Good twist to the story, Elaine. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds too painful, both the throat and having to change plans. Great complication, though!
ReplyDeleteBad time for her to have a sore throat but the plot advances! Great snippet.
ReplyDeletePoor woman, struck low to further the plot! Still, what will he do with the opportunity?
ReplyDeleteAm currently suffering with a sore throat. She has my sympathies. Unless, of course, she's just saying that to get out of the party.
ReplyDeleteStrep throat... *Cringe* I feel her pain, I used to get it all the time. Methinks this might be an opening for Susan now. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure he can find another date for the party really easily. Poor girl, she might also not have the next one.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he'll find someone else quickly ... poor girl ... i wonder whether she'll have a chance to go to a party with him agian.
