Welcome to Saturday Sample and Weekend Writing Warriors. Today we'll continue to share excerpts from Never Trust a Pretty Wolf. On Sunday when you finish here, do go to http://www.wewriwa.blogspot.com for more excerpts from a bunch of great authors.
In spite of his sarcastic little comment about snake cages, it pleased Liesel for him to listen to her opinion. “Before we go off half‑cocked and run back down the mountain, we should look around the clearing to make sure we don’t overlook anything. The hiding place could still be nearby.”
“Okay, look around for something shaped like a diamond.”
“Look for anything blue too. Maybe the color of the pouch is significant, not what’s inside it. The diamonds could be a red herring meant to throw us off the trail. Some wildflowers are blue. Maybe he buried the coordinates in a patch of blue wildflowers.”
Both of them got up and started to look. They inspected the trees around the edge of the clearing in hopes of finding a diamond-shaped opening, but nothing turned up.
This week: I've picked up where we left off last week. Liesel speaks first.
Ooh, I LIKE it. That's a fascinating development...your writerly imnagination is working overtime for this unique story and delivering some great twists. Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteAha! A possible answer to the clue! And a crack in the rock would be a good place to hide the next clue.
ReplyDeleteGreat clue for the cave. And the fact that the light has to hit it just right so they can see it says that others may not be able to solve that clue at all. Maybe they now have another leg up on the rest of the contestants. Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteSo many possibilities as to where the next clue is. If she hadn't seen that just right, they could have already left.
ReplyDeletePerfect way to hide a clue. The light is so different through out the day or year.
ReplyDeleteTweeted.
Good eye, Liesel!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to know what they will find. Great snippet.
ReplyDeleteI'd much rather hike farther up the hill than check a snake's cage.
