Saturday Sample

Welcome to Saturday Sample. Today I'll still be posting from Fortuna my romantic comedy. So far we know that Rocky has faked his death to enter the witness protection program. This scene is after Rocky's fake funeral.

Aimee Sherwood never dreamed that following her fiancĂ© into the witness protection pro-gram would land her in a haunted house in a town that’s downright creepy. She’d have laughed if she had been told the guy who lives down the road might be her soul mate, not the man whose ring she’s wearing. Life in West Virginia is nothing like life in Los Angeles, but between bean ball battles with Marilyn Monroe, remodeling a crumbling farmhouse, and starting a new online business, life in the country is anything but boring.

Aimee yawned and stretched until her joints popped. What a beautiful morning. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and she had the prospect of a nice day in front of her. Both she and her high school friend Julie felt in need of a little retail therapy, so they were hitting the local mall today.

She’d been at her parents’ home in Maryland for the last four weeks. From the moment she had gotten here she had started to feel better. Had she beaten her pillow since her arrival? Nope. Nor had she slapped anyone nor told any lies.

Well, she had told a few lies. The neighbors all wanted to say something about Rocky so she’d lied about that. Don’t think about it! Don’t get stressed again.

She had been living under so much stress without even knowing it. The changes had happened so gradually she hadn’t realized how horrible her life had become until the pressure was finally removed.
