Saturday Sample and Weekend Writing Warriors

Welcome to Saturday Sample and Weekend Writing Warriors. Today we'll continue to share excerpts from Never Trust a Pretty Wolf. On Sunday when you finish here, do go to for more excerpts from a bunch of great authors.

Liesel Wolf has a secret, a dangerous secret she’ll go to any lengths to conceal. When she’s paired in a charity game with sexy marshal Andy Bryce, a man with secrets of his own, her carefully constructed world comes crashing down, and Liesel’s on a collision course with her past.

Chapter One

Last Week

This week: I'm picking up where we left off last week.

Liesel stepped around him and exclaimed, “Oh, how pretty!”

A sweet little waterfall cascaded across a series of big boulders and fell into a pool that looked deep enough to swim in. Arched tree branches sheltered the edges of the pool. The sound of the splashing water made Liesel feel cooler. She drew a deep breath, filling her lungs with the scent of fresh creek water.

The forested glade made her feel like she and Andy were the only two people in the world, an illusion that the arrival of a family of five dispelled. The kids plunged into the little pool, kicking and diving into the waterfall.

If not for Andy, she’d gladly take off her shoes and wade in that lovely, cool water. The southern summer had almost roasted her in her jeans. She bent over and trailed her hand into the pool.

  1. That does sound like a beautiful spot to discover.

  2. Those kinds of moments are magical ... until the noisy family arrives :) And when he suddenly stopped of course we were expecting something bad ahead, not this! Well done.

  3. Sounds like a beautiful spot indeed! Enjoyed the excerpt...

  4. Nice descriptions. Now I want to stick my toes in, too!

  5. Why can't I ever stumble across such an idyllic setting! I wonder if she's going to let down her guard and go wading, Andy or no Andy. Great description of the spot!

  6. I can visualize that lovely place.

  7. Wonderful description. Reminds me of a place back home.

  8. Liesel has been so uptight that it's refreshing to see the more relaxed side of her.

  9. Beautiful description! I doubt it'll stay peaceful for long though.

  10. Lovely descriptions, it sounds like a place I want to be!

  11. Ahh... Her steel wall is starting to buckle! :-)
